Best Time to Visit Nuwara Eliya

Nuwara Eliya is cool all year, and mornings and evenings can be chilly. The drier months give clearer views at Horton Plains. April is the busiest month because of the local holiday season, with colourful festivities but higher prices and traffic.

How Many Days Do You Need?

One to two nights is enough for town sights and a tea estate. Add a morning at Horton Plains if the weather is good.

Getting to Nuwara Eliya

You can arrive by road or by the scenic hill country railway, which ends at Nanu Oya station, around 30 minutes from town. For comparisons and sample timings, read our guide to Kandy to Nuwara Eliya.
